Baby Shower Games

Baby Shower Game 1 - The Winning Plate

On the plates the food will be served on, draw a picture of a baby on only one of the plates. When everyone is eating ask them to look under their plates for the picture of the baby. The one with the picture wins a prize.

Baby Shower Game 2 - The Price is Right Game

Buy 10 to 12 baby Items. Get little envelopes and cards from the florist department of grocery store. Write the price of the item on the card and on the envelope write the item name, then seal envelopes. Play it like the tv show - "the price is right." The one that collects the most price cards without going over the amount wins.

Item Ideas:

  • Newborn Diapers
  • Baby Bib
  • Q-tips Cotton Swabs
  • Baby Wipes
  • Pedialyte Freezer Pops Package
  • Pacifiers 2 pack
  • Duck bath toy
  • Johnson's Baby Powder
  • Bunny Rabbit Baby Rattle
  • Jar baby food
  • Diaper Ointment

Baby Shower Game 3 - Baby Picture Match Game

In advance, ask all the guests for pictures of themselves as babies. Assemble the photos on a board and assign each a number. At some point during the shower, pass out sheets of paper to the guests so they can match each baby to the appropriate grown-up. If the guests don't know each other well, name tags can help the process. The person who gets the most correct answers wins.'

Baby Shower Game 4 - Just eat it

Buy 12 jars of baby food in pairs of like colors - for example, a jar of green beans and a jar of peas, a jar of applesauce and a jar of pears, and a jar of carrots and a jar of squash. With a permanent marker, number the lids of the jars 1 through 12. Then remove the labels, marking the jar number on the back of the corresponding label (hide the labels to use as an answer key). Have the guests examine the jars by sight only - no tasting or smelling! - and guess what each one is. They can write their answers down on a piece of paper. The person with the most correct answers wins. After the game is over, tape the labels back on the jars and give the baby food to the mom-to-be.

Baby Shower Game 5 - Word of the day ...

The object of the games is to avoid saying the word 'baby.' Everyone gets a clothespin or safety pin when they arrive, and if someone catches you saying 'baby,' she gets your pin. The person with the most pins at the end of the party wins a prize.

Baby Shower Game 6 - The Brown Bag Game

To play, put various baby things individually in brown paper bags. Seal the bags securely with tape and number them. Guests try to guess what's inside just by feeling them from the outside. Some are easy - diapers, pacifiers - some are really hard (like a fingertip toothbrush!).

Baby Shower Game 7 - The Tray Game

Fill a tray with baby items... a diaper, pacifier, Desitin, rattle, booties, diaper pins, thermometer, bib, bottle, nail clippers, baby brush, rubber ducky... whatever you can think of. The hostess walks around the room, letting everyone get a good look at the tray. After she takes the tray out of the room, the guests have to write down as may items as they can remember. (The "Mom" then gets to keep everything on the tray!)

Another way to play the game, is to buy a darling Baby Diaper Cake Select a Got Milk?,or a
"Whoozit Cake!" and show that around. It's covered with lots of useful baby items and makes a wonderful gift!

Baby Shower Game 8 -Diaper Derby

To play, you'll need a four-roll pack of toilet paper. At the shower, divide your guests into four teams. Give each team one roll of paper. Using only that, each group should dress one of their team members in a diaper. They can't use pins, staples, or anything else to hold it together. The mom-to-be picks the best-diapered baby, and the whole team wins small prizes. You'll be amazed at your friends' creativity!

Baby Shower Game 9 - How Far Around?

Take a spool of curly ribbon or yarn and have each guest cut off how much they think will go around the pregnant tummy. Then wrap one around the Mom. The one closest to the "real" one, wins!

Baby Shower Game 10 - Baby Word Scramble Game

Pick 10 or so words related to babies and scramble the letters. Photocopy the scrambled words on a sheet of paper for each party attendee. Give a time limit of about 5 minutes to try to unscramble the words.
Scrambled Word Actual Word Scrambled Word Actual Word
Sitbenas Bassinet Peidar Diaper
Searance Cesarean Kirgonc Hicar Rocking Chair
Akeblnt Blanket Yabb Gnisw Baby Swing
Treesbidganef Breastfeeding Licoc Colic
Tolbet Bottle Rupb Burp
Raragice Carriage Webnonr Newborn

Baby Shower Game 11 - Guess the Number of Jelly Beans in the Baby Bottle Game

Fill a baby bottle with little jelly beans (or other small candy). Show the attendees the baby bottle and have them guess how many beans are in the baby bottle. How about picking the mom's favorite small candy to use to fill?

Baby Shower Game 12 - Name That Baby

Write down the Mom and Dad's names and then have the guests come up with names for the baby from a combination of their names. It's really funny to see the names that people come up with. The one with the most won.

Baby Shower Game 13 - Diapers of Encouragement

Give everyone a disposable diaper and a Sharpie marker. Ask everyone to write some sort of encouragement, teasing or advice for the "early morning diaper" changes. (ex: It's 3am & I am sleeping ...I'm having fun are you?) It will be lots of fun for the Mother & Father to be to read these tidbits from friends & family.

Baby Shower Game 14 - The Nose Has It!

Take disposable diapers (the cloth-type ones... not plastic covered) and "carefully" melt a different chocolate candy bar in each one (breaking up the candy bar into pieces helps... and I would recommend experimenting with "cooking times" prior to the party!) Number each diaper and then pass them around the party. Guests have to "smell the diaper" and then write down what kind of candy bar they think is in each one. The photos taken of the guests sniffing the diapers, are priceless!

Baby Shower Game 15 - Advice for the New Mom

At the beginning of the shower, start passing around a journal. In it, ask people to write some advice for the new mother. Present this as a gift to her at the end of the shower. This works best for first time mommies. Also, it is helpful if you make a note on the shower invitation that this will be done. It gives the guests a chance to think of what they would like to write to the mother-to-be. The invitation might read "We will be making a special list at the shower with advice for the mother-to-be. Please be thinking about words of wisdom you would like to share."
